Thai Iced Tea

thaiIcedTea
I love Thai Iced Tea and always order it at Thai restaurants. When I found the tea leaves at a Thai grocery store in Chinatown I was overjoyed. It’s super easy to make and tastes exactly the same as the ones served in the restaurants. It even has the signature orange hue that makes my brain conjure up the fragrant sweet smell every time I see the color.

[recipe]
Makes 2 glasses
I like to make it with sweetened condensed milk, which is how I saw it in Thailand. But it can also be made with sugar and half-and-half.

[ingredients]
1 cup Thai tea mix
2 cups Water
2 Tbsp Sweetened Condensed Milk (note: not the same as evaporated milk)

[directions]
1. Boil water then add in Thai tea mix. Let boil for 3 minutes.
2. Turn off heat and let steep for 30 minutes.
3. Strain out tea leaves and let tea cool.
4. Add ice cubes and sweetened condensed milk to taste.
